Author Rev. Dr. Williams is Professor Emerita at Purdue University, Master of Divinity, Registered Financial Consultant, and ordained minister in the Church of the Brethren. She graduated from Manchester College, Purdue University, and Bethany Theological Seminary. In addition to teaching and doing research at Purdue for 32 years, she taught at the University of California, Jio Tong University at Shanghai, China, and the Federal University in Brazil where she started the graduate program in Family Economics. She started the major in financial counseling and planning at Purdue and directed an award-winning financial crisis clinic for 20 years and developed certification material for credit and financial counseling. Serving on boards of directors of credit counseling associations, International Association of Quality of Life, and president of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning she received the “fellow” of AFCPE. Among numerous other awards, she received the Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest for Indiana. Twenty-three books and over 100 papers and journal articles were written and presented world-wide. Currently, she speaks in churches, community groups, and national conferences; and plays classical/church music with one hand. Wife, mother of three children, and four grandchildren are her joy. Gardening and flower arranging are her peace.
